Your home from home while studying English abroad

Sharing is caring!

Choosing where to live is a significant aspect of your study English abroad experience. EC Language Centres offer a diverse selection of accommodation options that cater to your lifestyle, budget, and personal preferences. You have the choice of living with other EC students or with local English speakers in a homestay.

Regardless of whether you prefer shared student accommodation, a private apartment, or a room in a larger home, we have everything you need to make your time with us a success both academically and personally. We offer flexible options ranging from room-only to full-board, single-bedroom studio flats to family rooms in larger buildings, and a variety of private, shared, and communal bathrooms. All have a desk, a chill-out zone and food prep of one type or another, storage, bathroom and of course a bed too!

Our accommodation options are:

Residence: EC offers a variety of residence options, including shared apartments, study hotels and private studios. Students can choose to live alone or share with other students.

Living in our accommodation is a great way to learn to live independently, make new friends and most importantly, have fun. It may be daunting at first but remember that everyone is in the same situation.

Homestay: This option allows students to live with a local family, where they can experience the culture and language first-hand. Homestays typically provide a private room and shared bathroom, with meals included.

Homestays are one of the most popular choices amongst overseas students. However, student’s expectations will vary, and hosts may differ from a single host mother to a retired couple to a family with pets and kids! Students choose this form of accommodation for home comforts, a chance to practice their English and generally learn about the host country’s way of life. You are not simply renting a room but can expect to be treated as a member of the household.

For many of you, this may be your first time away from home. Your backgrounds will vary, and you will have very different ideas of home life. Your host will give you a friendly welcome and introduce all the household members to you and share household arrangements and routines. To make you feel at home and able to join in the host’s routine, hosts often explain the ground rules or give you a written sheet to ensure that these have become clear to you.

Accommodation can be up to one hour away from the school and there may be various ways to arrive; using public transport or by foot, so factor this and consider the weather at the time of year of your course in your accommodation choice.

We want to make sure that our accommodation is a great place for everyone to live, regardless of personality or interests. With fantastic events calendars at every centre, you will have plenty of opportunities to try new things and take part, no matter what you’re in to and you’ll really feel at home very soon!
