When Nina Hoehmann arrived in Malta for three weeks to learn English with EC she probably thought she would be leaving with a better understanding of English and not a husband! That all changed when the 27 year old from Wermelskirchen, Germany, was proposed to by her long term boyfriend Olivier Dickmaennken(33).
Nina had been in Malta ten days before her boyfriend came to join her – the longest time they had spent apart since they began dating some seven years ago. It was during this brief separation that Oliver decided to pop the question. Upon arrival in Malta, he secretly arranged with the reception staff at EC to place a banner bearing ‘Sweet-heart I love you! Will you marry me?’, outside the entrance to EC. Getting down on one knee he proposed to a visibly surprised and delighted Nina; who accepted without hesitation.
The couple chose Malta because it offered good value for money, and EC in particular, because Nina was attracted to the size of the school, feeling it was just the right size for her.
After improving her English level with EC, the couple plan on spending some time working abroad. Nina felt she needed to brush up on her English before taking up a nursing position in Africa. A summer marriage is planned for next year in their native Germany.
We wish the happy couple all the best for the future.
