Country/City – An important consideration when choosing a study abroad course is to find a city or country that will benefit you. There are many English speaking countries and each offers different experiences to the English language learner. Bigger cities like New York, London, and Sydney, allow students to step outside their comfort zone and experience various new cultures all at once. However, these cities can also be intimidating to shy or reserved students. They can also offer challenges in regards to financing your trip. Generally, bigger and more populated cities will also have higher costs of living. Smaller cities like Portland, Edinburgh, and   Auckland might give you easier access to locales and those who are native speakers of the language. However, in some of these cities, public transportation is limited and access to international culture might not be as readily available. Whichever city/country you choose, make sure to find one that “speaks” to you and your personality.
