Earth Hour is a global event organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and it’s held annually on the last Saturday of March.
The purpose of it is to conserve energy and it’s a symbol of showing support for action against climate change.
It’s really easy to participate in this effort to conserve energy! All you have to do is turn off your lights for one hour on Saturday March 31, 2012 from 8:30pm to 9:30 pm (local).
While turning off the light for one hour once a year may not have a huge impact right away, doing it every year and raising awareness about it so that more people all over the world are participating in it, in the long term will have definitely have a huge impact.
It’s important to participate as well because it serves as a good reminder to try to better use the power more efficiently. And it also shows support and unity in this attempt to better conserve energy.
